Our School Day

Start of the Day

The school day starts at 8:55am and finishes at 3:15pm. Registration is from 8:55am-9:05am.  A record is kept of children who are late.

Arrival and Departure

The school gate is opened at 8:45am, and children go straight onto the playground. Pupils in our Reception Class go straight into their classroom.  A bell rings just before 8.55am for children to line up.

Children arriving by bus and taxi are met outside by a member of staff and brought into school.

At home-time the children collect their belongings together ready to take home, and they assemble in their classrooms, ready to be met by parents.

Playtimes and Lunch

Morning playtime begins at 10:30am and finishes at 10:45am. Children from Yr1-Yr6 have a break in the playground and have the opportunity to have a drink and a healthy snack. Children in the EYFS (Reception) have break times which are quite flexible. In the summer term, they will begin to join children in Key Stage 1 to have breaks at set times.

Lunch times are staggered to accommodate the different year groups & to ease the number of children having lunch at the same time.

At 11:45am the EYFS children sit together with the EYFS staff team for their lunch.

The pupils in Yr1-Yr6 have their lunch at 12:00pm-1:00pm. The Yr1-Yr2 children have lunch at 12:00pm and then the Yr3-Yr6 children.

The daily act of collective worship is held at 3.00pm.

At 2:30pm KS1 have an afternoon playtime.

End of the Day

The school day ends at 3:15pm and the gate is opened so that parents can collect their children. The KS1 children assemble in their classes and each child is dismissed when the teacher knows their parent or minder is there.

KS2 children assemble outside their classes with their teacher, and are collected from there.

There are school bus and taxi services each day.  Children travelling home from school assemble at set points and are checked off the lists by a member of staff before travelling home.  Parents are asked to provide details of which days their children will be using school transport, and to inform the school if there are any changes.  As a Safeguarding measure, if the school is in any doubt about the mode of transport home and parents cannot be contacted, the children are kept at school for parents to collect.
